John F. Hennessy III is a principal in the firm of Hennessy & Williamson, a project consulting firm founded in 2005, to improve the execution of design and construction projects. He is the former Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Syska Hennessy Group, one of the leading facilities consulting engineering, technology and construction firms in the United States.
During his 15 year tenure as Chairman an CEO of Syska Hennessy, he undertook programs to bring financial stability to the firm (recording consistent levels of profitability), developed and instituted an information technology strategy, an expansion of services that brought the firm into the management of facilities, construction management of building infrastructure and energy plants, significant geographic expansion, a transition from family ownership to management ownership and complete rebranding of the firm to reposition it in the marketplace to take advantage of the changing market for facility delivery.
John received his Masters of Science degree in management in 1988 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was a Sloan Fellow. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in 1978 and his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Physics from Kenyon College in 1977.
John is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Company, where he serves on the Executive Committee, Corporate Governance Committee and Audit Committee.
