ClimateWell and the Clinton Climate Initiative Create partnership on Solar Cooling

New York – 09/07/2009 - ClimateWell, a Swedish solar powered air conditioning company, announced today a supply agreement with the Clinton Climate Initiative, a project of the William J. Clinton Foundation. The agreement is intended to spur the adoption of sustainable indoor climate control practices in 40 of the world’s largest cities (C40). Conventional air conditioning and heating systems (HVAC) represent a significant portion of energy used in commercial buildings, especially those found in dense urban centers. Reducing the greenhouse gases generated by fossil fuel consumption in the built environment can make a significant contribution to the effort to halt global climate change. By partnering with the Clinton Climate Initiative, ClimateWell will have the opportunity to introduce its Solar Cooling system to energy efficiency building retrofit projects across the C40 cities– including single and low-rise multifamily housing projects, nursing homes, hospitals, hotels, gyms and office buildings. The cooling system can also be used to reduce energy consumption in shopping malls.

About Solar Cooling by ClimateWell
Solar Cooling is a highly efficient air conditioning system, which is driven by solar thermal energy. Climatewell’s product has an integrated storage capability that allows it to produce cool air, even at times of little sunlight, without being powered by energy from conventional fuel sources . The ClimateWell system can replace or complement traditional air conditioning and space heating using a process similar to an absorption chiller to cool indoor space. This type of system does not utilize any harmful CFC based refrigerants.
