Turnstone FAQs :
1. At what stages of corporate development does Turnstone seek to invest?
Turnstone is stage agnostic, and will review compelling opportunities at various stages of development, including early stage venture capital, expansion capital, and the acquisition and repositioning of more mature companies.
2. How much capital will Turnstone invest in one transaction? what about follow-on investing?
We typically seek to deploy $10 million of capital on average per transaction, which could entail a smaller investment initially and additional follow-up capital. We can also evaluate larger investment opportunities in conjuntion with our investors, ranging as high as $50 million.
3. Will Turnstone consider overseas (outside the U.S.) investment opportunities?
Turnstone will only consider direct foreign investment opportunities in partnership with local investment partners. We feel it's important to have both regional knowledge and sector expertise in such transactions. Regions we would consider investing include the EU, Latin America, and India.
4. How much capital does Turnstone have under management?
Currently, Turnstone leverages the asset base of multi-billion dollar asset management firms from which to make investments, and as such is not limited by a specific fund size. Accordingly, this provides us with the flexibility to evaluate each deal without portfolio concentration constraints, and can evaluate both smaller and larger transaction opportunities.
5. Does Turnstone seek to have a control position in its portfolio companies?
No, control investments are not a requirement. We will consider taking control positions in management buyout opportunities, but predominantly we are taking minority stakes in growth transactions.
6. Does Turnstone require a Board of Directors seat?
We typically like to lead transactions and influence corporate strategy via a Board of Directors seat; however, in cases where we are part of an investment syndicate of institutional investors, we may defer that role to another like-minded firm.
